Stephen Garrett is Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer at Garrett, Perkins & Horton Advisory Partners.  

He has over 30 years of experience providing financial advice to help clients pursue and achieve their goals for today and tomorrow. He takes a highly personal and disciplined approach and has earned a long and trusted reputation for his focus on creating retirement income and wealth preservation strategies. 

Prior to founding Garrett, Perkins & Horton, Stephen was a Private Wealth Advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services in Birmingham, Alabama. During his years at Ameriprise, he was recognized as part of the Ameriprise Circle of Success (1999-2016) and earned a spot on the coveted Forbes Best in State Advisor ranking for 2019 and 2023. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association.

He earned a BS in Chemistry and MBA in Marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi. He continues to support his alma mater by serving as an Investment Committee Member for the University of Southern Mississippi Foundation. He also actively participates in his community, serving as Trustee and Treasurer Emeritus at Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, an organization that finds loving homes for homeless or needy basset hounds. 

Stephen loves traveling with his wife, Dianne, and spending time with their three children, one granddaughter and four grandsons, and several rescue dogs. In his spare time, he also enjoys reading, coin collecting, and fishing.
